What you can expect from this site, and what it does not promise.

What this is

Gordy Goes North is a travel and rescue journal. It documents a drive from Atlanta to Acadia with two dogs and a day spent at a local animal shelter in each town along the route.

About the dogs

Dogs shown here are real animals at real shelters, and the details are accurate on the day they are posted. Nothing on this site is a promise that a particular dog is still available, still at that shelter, or suitable for your home. Adoption decisions belong to the shelter, and every listing should be checked with them directly before you make plans around it.

Advice is not advice

Anything here about dogs, driving, campsites or equipment is one person's experience, not professional guidance. Veterinary questions belong with a vet.

Content

The writing, photographs and video on this site belong to Gordy Goes North. Share the posts and link to the pages as much as you like. Ask before using the photos or video commercially, and shelters are welcome to reuse anything featuring their own animals without asking.

Gifts and sponsorship

If a product, stay or service is given to us, the post that features it says so plainly, every time, from the first post it appears in.

Links out

We link to shelters and other organisations because they are worth your attention, not because we control what they publish. Their pages are their responsibility.

No warranty

The site is provided as it is. We try to keep it accurate and online, but we cannot promise either, and we are not liable for what follows from relying on it.
